⚠️ Before You Supplement
Supplements are the last step, not the first.
Unless you have a specific issue, measurable by blood work, clear symptoms, or an actual diagnosis, focus on the foundations first:
- Read - Actually read Ray's articles, then read some more.
- Diagnosis - use self diagnosis & markers to know where you stand.
- Sleep - Optimize quality and timing - Link to Sleep
- Environment - Light, temperature, stress reduction
- Movement - Adequate steps, regular, enjoyable physical activity
- Meaningful work - Purpose matters for metabolism
- Pro-metabolic eating - Hit your calories, macros, and micronutrients with a positive calcium-to-phosphorus ratio - Link to Diet
- you can't supplement your way out of a harmful diet
Only after these are dialed in should supplementation even enter the conversation.
Ray was notably skeptical of the "-maxxing" mindset. He observed that many of his correspondents actually improved when they stopped taking everything, often due to excipients and impurities. More isn't better, context is key. The goal is to support your metabolism, not to artificially prop up numbers.
